Hand-Mulled Watercolour Half Pans (15×20×10mm) – Traditional Artist Paint, Made in Cornwall

These hand-mulled half pans are made to complement my sketching boxes, palettes, and traditional travel tins.

Each paint is made using a traditional hand-mulling process and my own unique binder recipe, producing watercolours that are designed for traditional use—the kind that rewards patience, layering, and craft. Made in Cornwall, a place known for its extraordinary light, these paints are created to help you build depth, atmosphere, and luminous washes over time.

These are not “one-stroke” opaque paints. If you’re looking for extremely heavy, instant coverage, I recommend gouache or acrylic instead. My paints are for artists who want to work in a more time-honoured way, with the ability to glaze and build layers—following in the footsteps of classic watercolourists like Turner.

The half pan itself measures 15 × 20 × 10 mm, making it the perfect compact format for travel and sketching kits.

I source pigments mainly from a specialist London colourist established in 1881, known for quality and consistency, trusted by artists such as Francis Bacon and Damien Hirst.

My priority is for you to enjoy your materials and enjoy your painting. These watercolours are transparent or semi-transparent (coverage is shown on the swatch), contain no fillers or brighteners, and should always be allowed to dry fully before storage to avoid spills.
