Paper for sketchbooks

I have used many different brands and types of paper, but the paper I have used the most and now use exclusively for sketching. I find the 190g/m² (90lb) NOT surface is ideal for dry and wet work. The large and medium concertina sketchbooks use the same paper, but 300gsm, so they are heavier to allow for fold-out use. I also use Fabriano Academia and Hereford paper, see below

Saunders Waterford® is a high-quality watercolour paper produced using traditional cylinder mould machine techniques. This paper is considered superior and is made by St Cuthbert's Mill, with an endorsement from the Royal Watercolour Society. 100% cotton is used to produce this paper, which is of the highest quality in papermaking. The paper is made to meet high archival standards, and each sheet is buffered with calcium carbonate to protect finished work from discolouration caused by acid present in atmospheric pollution. Its attractive surface is created using natural woollen felts that give it a distinctive random texture. The surface is sized in gelatine making it strong and resilient to scrubbing, and other rough treatments.

I chose this paper with ink and pencil sketching in mid due to its smooth and bleedproof properties.

Hereford printmaking paper is a versatile, high-quality paper developed for block printing, calligraphy, etching, engraving, letterpress printing & even book binding.

Mould-made from part-cotton rag, 145gsm 

Internally & externally sized using Vegan gelatine, they're acid-free & buffered with Calcium Carbonate for an additional resistance to ageing.
